My wife and I recently celebrated 17 married years together. After all of this time, one of the moments I look forward to the most each day is our evening coffee time on the porch. I purpose each day to make sure nothing keeps that from happening.
Got some cool air blowing through the screen door
Singing to my dog and kinda getting ignored
Kids are sleeping upstairs
I ain’t going anywhere
But I’m getting happy cause I think I’m tapping in now
To the rhythm tap, tap, tapping on my window
Yeah the rain is coming down
In “symphosonic” sound
It’s a new day
It’s a new light
It’s a new day and I swear I’ll get it right, I pray I do
So that I end up sitting next to you tonight
It’s getting noontime, I’m hitting rewind
Wondering how the morning has gone to behind me
Imma’ gonna look and see
If you have went and messaged me
It’s looking bright and things are clearing up now
Just a few puddles standing in the shadows
Yeah, the sun is coming down
Waiting on you to come around
It’s a new day
It’s a new light
It’s a new day and I swear I’ll get it right, I pray I do
So that I end up sitting next to you tonight
Tonight, I’ll be romantic
I’ll burn the candle lights of fire
And amid the voices of the darkness
I’ll call your name strong and true
So you can find your way to me
Cause I think if you look you’ll see
You may even like, sitting next to me
It’s a new day
It’s a new light
It’s a new day and I swear we’ll get it right, I pray we do
So that I end up sitting next to you tonight
