Exasperated

If there’s any feeling more universal than insecurity, it’s probably being utterly frustrated with everyone and everything.

How many times have you gotten your hopes up
How many times have you been excited just to be let down
Believing this time will be different
Believing this time somehow it will all work out

I wish I knew how you face this all with a smile
I would try too if you were to stay with me for awhile

But tell me if a day is as a thousand years
Then, what are we still doing here
Still waiting, not so patiently
And if I seem a little frustrated
I’m not trying to be complicated
I’m simply exasperated

It seems like clowns are loose in the basement
It seems like monkeys everywhere up in the air
So if I seem to you indifferent
It merely means I’ve decided not to care

What they may do, I gave an inch and they took a mile
What could they do, if you were to stay with me for awhile

But tell me if a day is as a thousand years
Then, what are we still doing here
Still waiting, not so patiently
And if I seem a little frustrated
I’m not trying to be complicated
I’m simply exasperated

Get over it, get over it, you say
Get over it, Do you really want to be this way
Get over it, get over it, you say
Can I get over it, I don’t want to be this way

But tell me if a day is as a thousand years
Then, what are we still doing here
Still waiting, not so patiently
And if I seem a little frustrated
I’m not trying to be complicated
I’m simply exasperated
